The MCD team recently visited our new surgery in Coxheath, Maidstone.
We enjoyed lattes and cappuccinos from the in-house coffee shop, and then had a guided tour of the new building. The view from the first floor waiting room across the Kent countryside must be one of the best in the country: not a bad place to wait for your appointment. read more…
We are all aware of the challenges facing both the planet and our pockets currently and the need to upgrade our infrastructure to more environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions. Installing LED lighting is a great place to start.
St Peter’s Medical Centre in central Brighton is undergoing a dramatic renovation that will see the size of the surgery treble. To reduce the disruption to patients and ensure services can continue operating throughout the build, the extension and upgrade are happening in two phases.
We are delighted that the residents of Coxheath and the surrounding area near Maidstone, Kent, are now enjoying the benefits of the brand new state-of-the-art environmentally efficient Greensand Health Centre. The building was designed with it’s rural setting in mind and the large barn-like windows flood the building with natural light.
Trinity Medical Centre, Hove, has once again been recognised for its beauty. The once derelict church was transformed by MCD into a stunning, award-winning medical centre – the perfect place to go to improve your health. This time it is the Daily Mail who has praised it and ranked it as the second prettiest surgery in Britain. We would of course have ranked it number one, but who are we to argue.
Medical Centre Developments (MCD) is busy building a brand new GP surgery for St Peter’s Medical Centre in the middle of Brighton. It will serve St Peter’s existing c16, 000 patients and be capable of housing a number more. It will also incorporate mental health counselling facilities for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and there are plans for a new onsite pharmacy too.The new building will incorporate a host of environmentally friendly features, including heating via air source heat pumps, photovoltaic solar panels, a partial biodiverse green roof and electric vehicle charging points. read more…
The new surgery in Storrington boasts c1350 sqm of accommodation in an architecturally beautiful building that is well suited to its rural Sussex location in the South Downs National Park. The Glebe partners had a desperate need for more space. The other practice in Storrington had closed, which left 12,000 patients being seen from a surgery building of just 450 sqm and inadequate portacabins. read more…
At both ends of a GP’s employment lifecycle – joining a surgery and later leaving it – the issue of property ownership can be a challenge. Currently, practices are struggling to fill vacancies and high numbers of doctors are retiring or leaving the profession. In this context, the issues surrounding property ownership are particularly acute. Surgeries where doctors directly own the premise not only limit their potential pool of candidates when recruiting, but must also pay the equity of the GP who is leaving. read more…
What do you do with a derelict church that was constructed in the 1860’s and last used in 2008? Turn it into an award winning NHS Medical Centre, which respects and enhances the original architecture, whilst also providing a wonderful environment for a large medical practice to treat c.19,000 patients. read more…
