Yoker, Glasgow

Bringing dentists and GPs together

Key Facts

  • From old tenement block to purpose-built luxury
  • Dentistry added to make site viable and affordable
A small GP premises in Yoker, Glasgow was housed in an old tenement block that was unfit for purpose. The trick was to build a new practice affordably.

We heard about a local dentist also on the lookout for new premises. Bringing dentists and GPs together would not only make the move cost-effective but also provide the community with a range of services all in one location.

We found a new site in Glasgow and built a modern facility that will allow them to serve their patients for many years.

We designed the building in an L shape, giving each service their own area. There’s a spacious, bright reception space, large consulting rooms that are functional and flexible, on-site parking, and excellent staff welfare and training areas. The new premises are also energy efficient, and are BREEAM Very Good Refurb certified.

Dr Clare McCorkindale said, “All previous efforts over an eight-year period to get new premises had failed. I was delighted by the knowledge, experience and ‘can-do’ attitude that MCD brought to the project and am thrilled with the outcome. My partner, staff, patients and the public have already adopted the building as a valuable community asset for Yoker.”
