Stunning surgery in village setting
- Affordable site – enabled by residential development
- Sale and leaseback with a view to improving facilities for the doctors
- 1400 sq m of surgery plus space for support services
- Sustainability focused- electric vehicle charging, air source heat pumps, solar panels and BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard accredited
Originally a sale-and-leaseback purchase from the doctors, The Glebe Surgery had, by 2020, outgrown its capacity by 60%. This wasn’t helped by other local medical centres closing down.
MCD found an opportunity to develop a new medical centre affordably, as part of a new residential development on a neighbouring site. We worked with the council, landowner, housing developer, NHS and the Glebe partners to secure the plot.
The new building has 1,400 sq m of surgery and space for other supporting services. This has improved communication between allied health services. The building is also used for training foundation-year medical students and student nurses.
With EV charging and air-source heat pumps, it’s also achieved BREEAM Excellent environmental standard.
