Major Investment Transforms Mountcastle Health Centre in Edinburgh

Edinburgh, UK – Mountcastle Health Centre, a vital healthcare facility serving over 15,000 patients in the capital, is undergoing a significant refurbishment as part of a long-term commitment to enhance primary care services in the area.

The upgrade comes as part of a new 20-year lease agreement and includes a comprehensive £750,000 investment aimed at modernising and future-proofing the facility. The works are being funded by MCS Ltd, with Advanced Building Contractors (Glasgow) leading construction and Ryden LLP overseeing project management.

Key improvements include extensive external cleaning, repairs and treatment of the building’s roofs, cladding, and brickwork. Internally, the health centre will benefit from upgraded consulting rooms and new flooring installations, designed specifically to meet current infection control standards — a crucial requirement for safe and effective healthcare delivery. The environment has also been part of the refurbishment consideration with LED lights installed as well as replacing old-style air-conditioning units with efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) equipment.

This transformation ensures Mountcastle Health Centre will continue to provide high-quality services in a modern, safe, and compliant environment for decades to come. The refurbishment is already being welcomed by both staff and patients as a timely and necessary investment in community health infrastructure.

The project also highlights the role of public-private collaboration in strengthening the UK’s healthcare estate, ensuring facilities like Mountcastle are equipped to meet growing and evolving patient needs.
