This project in Pitlochry presented us with a challenge: designing a building to replace an old community hospital and GP premises, as well as being able to house multiple service providers, including GPs, social workers and carers for the elderly.
The 5,000 sq m of accommodation includes a GP surgery, a community hospital with GP ward, nine in-patient beds, a seven-bed dementia ward and a 24-hour trauma/minor injuries unit.
We also incorporated an outpatient clinic and accommodation for complementary services including social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech and language development. An ambulance depot and a 50-bed care home for NHS and private clients complete the picture.
