“Having the doctors in the new, larger GP surgery on the same site as well as the social services and the ambulances will provide a very wide range of services on the one site. I feel very privileged to have been involved with the commissioning group throughout this project.”

PITLOCHRY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

The new Pitlochry Community Hospital is an integrated facility for NHS Tayside, the local GP practice, Perth and Kinross Council and a Care Home.
On one site, the 5,176 m² of accommodation brings together:

Our Clients’ Needs

There was a need to move away from the previous hospital’s multi-occupied wards, towards a new facility that would incorporate single en-suite rooms providing privacy and dignity for patients and a much more integrated approach to healthcare and community services in the northwest of Perthshire.

MCS’s Approach

To deliver the new multi disciplinary facility MCS worked closely with all the service providers in order to fully understand their requirements. We then utilised our property expertise and adopted an innovative approach to find and secure a site close to the town centre and gain planning consent.

Strong organisation ability and project management skills were required to bring together and orchestrate all of the professional disciplines.

Our Solution

MCS worked with stakeholders to deliver outstanding facilities at an affordable cost. Throughout the project we were able to foster a spirit of cooperation, enabling us to deliver premises that create a soothing environment for patients and staff.
The centre benefits from:

Health Outcomes

A model for communities across Scotland, The Pitlochry Community Hospital has significantly improved healthcare provision:

Christine Schmitt- Mackinnon, secretary of The Friends of Irvine Memorial Hospital said, “When people asked what was wrong with the hospital we had, my response was always that we need a 21st century hospital for 21st century patients and all those who care for them – and certainly we have it now.”

The new facility has generated a very favourable response:

“We had a vision to replace our ageing Victorian Hospital with a fully integrated health facility that would enhance our health services and deliver a much better experience for both patients and staff. Working together with Medical Centres Scotland, we have now been able to realise this vision of a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility for the people of Highland Perthshire which is fit for the 21st century”
